Clarity for making changes
This one tip for success will move you towards meaningful, fulfilling life experiences.
Have you heard of this quote?
Life is about growth and change. When you are no longer doing that — that is your whisper; that is your whisper that you are supposed to do something else.
― Oprah Winfrey
I love listening for that whisper. It's the reason that I continue to try and explore new things. Sometimes it leads me to “I can't believe I'm actually doing this!” moments (like that one time I quit my job after 7 months with no planned next job) or “I wonder what would happen if I tried to…” moments (like the month I was obsessed about making my own French macaroons).
I also remember what it's like to ignore that whisper because the big, scary voices in my head made me feel guilty or fearful of being too selfish, too ambitious, or too unworthy of the possibilities of where my life could lead.
Have you ever felt that way, like you were ignoring the whisper?
Don't ignore the whisper.
That ignorance led me to stay in a toxic relationship 2 years too long. That ignorance led me to live in a city I really disliked, but felt cool saying I lived there (yeah, I'm talking about you, San Francisco. If you live here, sorry-- to each her own!). That ignorance led me to stay in a job I was so dissatisfied with for 3 years.
All. That. Time. I. Could. Have. Been. Doing. Something I LOVED.
So, if you're hearing a whisper but tell yourself
It's not the right time…
That's too risky…
I should be happy with what I already have…
What will others think…
STOP. IT.
You have just one beautiful, precious, life. Live it.
Will you let today be the day you finally answer the whisper?
The challenge: This week, sit quietly and try to feel that whisper. Do you feel pulled or called to explore something new? Is there a growth opportunity you've been trying to ignore? This week's challenge is to stop ignoring it and pursue that whisper with all your heart.
