How to turn dreams into goals
Hint: The time is now.
You're always one decision away from the life you want…
In the last few months, I've been painting, printing, and prepping for my first craft fair this weekend.
Earlier this year, I applied to the craft fair just to see what would happen. I watched a video on how to prep for a craft fair, tips on applications, and hit send. A few weeks later, I was accepted.
Little did I know that having a milestone looming over me would then motivate me to:
build and launch my website as an e-commerce store
apply for my DBA and seller permit
help me focus on my offerings (8x10 art prints, and a few other items that I've always wanted to make and try selling)
speed up my painting process and give me a more discerning eye on product photography and land my creative voice
give me the bravery to start promoting my work to friends and family, and even to a brewery that will be hosting my art soon
…all of this from one decision.
I'm serious. One. Decision. Had I not been accepted here, maybe I would have found something else. But honestly, the decision to just try unlocked so much more for me. It gave me a timeline to work towards that would turn my dream into a reality.
And maybe it really is that simple.
I'm excited to learn from the craft fair. I've even created goals from that: while yes I hope to sell, more importantly I want to know what people see when they look at my art, who it resonates with, and which become the “popular” pieces. I know what I love, but what about others? I want to stay in this curiosity mindset and be in the experience.
✨️All this to say, if there's something you're thinking about, what is it, and what is one action you could do to move things in that direction?
Because once you actively move towards that, the rest will start to fall into place.
